I will always cheer on families who are brave enough to shoot in the Oklahoma summer. It's my all time favorite season to shoot in. Yes, it's sticky and sweaty, but the green trees and blue sky make it worth it. In the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, God paints with an extra wide paintbrush during the summer months, and I just can't get enough.
The Lemons family and I pulled up to our spot, and climbed out. Small introductions were made, flowers were picked, and a few shots along the path were taken, but we didn't waste much time before we hit the trail. We had hiked up to a clearing I was happy to stop at and played for a bit. Then I suggested that we could turn around and go back down. But Daddy, Eric, said, "Oh no, I think we can go further."
"Are you sure?" I asked.
He grabbed one of the boy's hands, and Momma, Katy, put the littlest on her hip, and up we went.
If you are going to have a family adventure at the Wildlife Refure, you might as well do it all the way.
